Su autora trabajó durante años en revistas de moda y como agente de varios fotógrafos, por lo que su visión privilegiada de este mundo tan élitista es de primera mano. La historia se dilata con diálogos innecesarios, escenas que aportan poco, y va relatando, en ocasiones de forma aburrida, el viaje de regreso de la protagonista que vuelve a enfrentarse a los fantasmas de su pasado como modelo profesional. Resulta interesante por la posibilidad de adentrarse en un mundo extremadamente cerrado en el que los abusos laborales, y los abusos sexuales son comunes y se silencias, pues nadie quiere quedarse fuera. Inspirada en hechos reales, Melian nos muestra la cara más oscura de la idílica vida de las top models que son tan admiradas por tantos, y la forma en la que muchas veces, esas bonitas historias de cenicientas adolescentes, acaban convertidas en películas de terror.
